Bactigras is a gauze dressing impregnated with paraffin, containing 0.5 percent chlorhexidine acetate. It is presented as individual dressings in peel-apart pouches. Bactigras acts as a barrier between the wound and a secondary dressing such as Mellon low adherent wound dressing, allowing wound fluid to pass into the absorbent secondary dressing. The chlorhexidine acetate antiseptic is slowly released from the dressing, giving long lasting action against a range of bacteria. Bactigras is used for minor burns, grazes and cuts. Bactigras can be used on wounds where there is a risk of infection or on already infected wounds if the person has been prescribed oral antibiotics. The pack contains 10 gauze dressings. Measures 20 cm length by 15 cm width.
